The Seven Corners Racing Team had a strong showing this Fourth of July weekend at the MCRA Challenge Series at the 10-turn, 1.76 mile Putnam Park Road Course in Mount Meridian, Indiana. Justin Tysdal (co-founder and CEO) entered the weekend piloting his
Seven Corners #741, Suzuki GSXR 1000, while Jim Krampen (co-founder and CRO) was aboard his Seven Corners #707, BMW s1000rr.
Justin was putting up some very fast times in practice at 1:18 per lap and Jim was still getting used to his new bike and working out some mechanical bugs, but was able to keep Justin in his sights.
The July 2nd GT Amateur race was run under great racing conditions as Justin and Jim took the grid for the 25 minute endurance race. Justin’s start was fast as usual and he moved his way into the front pack of the 18 bikes in the field and stayed consistent throughout. Jim stayed towards the rear of the pack picking off several competitors over the course of the contest.
Unfortunately, the timing system on the track malfunctioned, which prevented any officially recorded lap times. Both Justin and Jim felt they had their best laps of the season.
Due to the timing system malfunction, MCRA had to revert to manual scoring, in which Justin was placed 10th and Jim placed 14th. Typical Indiana summer weather moved in for the July 3rd race and it rained all day. Justin and Jim were not equipped for the wet conditions and only seven competitors took to the track for Sunday’s race.
The official MCRA GT Amateur 2016 Challenge Series Championship Point Standings have Justin in 11th and Jim in 13th through 6 races this year.
