Scheduled vs. Comprehensive Medical Plans: Which Do You Need?

The biggest difference between our main travel medical insurance plans is the difference between a comprehensive plan and a scheduled benefits plan. This difference is pretty substantial, so you may want to know what you’re looking at before you purchase. Plus, it just makes travel insurance a lot easier to understand!

If you're traveling into the United States and you're not a US citizen, either plan is right for you! Continue reading to understand the differences between plans and decide which one works best for your trip.
Comprehensive Benefits Plans
These plans are fairly straight-forward. You’ll see on our website that you can choose
your medical maximum and deductible. The medical maximums range from as low as $15,000 all the way to $5,000,000 in coverage. For deductibles, you can customize your plan with one as low as $0 and as high as $5,000. Plans with a low medical maximum
and high deductible will be the lowest in price while plans with a low deductible but high medical coverage will be priced higher.
Coinsurance is the percentage that we’ll pay and the percentage that you’ll pay. For example, you may see that a plan offers “After you pay the deductible, we pay 75% of expenses to the medical maximum.” This means
that we pay 75%, and you pay 25% of eligible expenses. Plain and simple. If it’s covered, you’ll only be paying 25% of your medical bill.
This percentage goes for almost all types of services. Need an x-ray? We cover 75% of the cost. Need to stay overnight in the hospital? We cover 75% of the cost. Some services will not be covered at the same percentage, but those details will be shown
in your coverage document. These may include dental, emergency assistance services, and expenses to treat pre-existing conditions.

The Liaison Travel Medical plans are designed for both United States citizens traveling out of
the United States as well as non-US citizens traveling into the United States or other applicable countries that are not on our restricted country list. Coverage options will vary whether you are traveling out of the US or traveling to the US. For
non-US citizens traveling to the United States, Liaison travel medical plans will utilize the UnitedHealthcare network of providers.
The Liaison plans offer three different plans options:
Liaison Travel Basic: lowest level of benefits with coverage up to 364 days. Best for healthy individuals traveling on a budget.
Liaison Travel Choice: mid-range level of benefits; this is Seven Corners' most popular plan option. Also has coverage up to 364 days.
Liaison Travel Elite: the highest level of benefits and recommended most by Seven Corners because of its maximum protection. Available up to 364 days but is renewable for up to 3 years.
Getting a quote for a Liaison plan takes less than 30 seconds. If you're ready to purchase your plan, the application process takes between 4-5 minutes to complete. No health questions are asked and coverage begins at midnight on the
day you have selected to start the plan. These plans are guaranteed issue!
Scheduled Benefits Plans
Scheduled benefit plans are more detailed, and often more affordable. However, while they are MORE affordable with less the upfront cost, often times they can end up being more costly because of the limited medical maximums on a PER VISIT basis. For these plans, instead of choosing a percentage, you’ll choose a medical maximum, deductible, and plan type. The plan type, instead of paying a certain percentage, will pay a certain dollar amount for each different service you may need.
For example, in your plan, you may see: “Surgical treatment: Up to $5,800.” This is essentially the limit that we will pay after you’ve met your deductible. Anything over that dollar amount, you would be responsible
to pay. The coverage document shows these limits for every type of service you would need. You can always refer to your plan and know exactly how much we’ll pay for everything you need.

The Inbound Visitor Insurance plans offered by Seven
Corners are designed specifically for non-US citizen travelers who are leaving their home (resident) country to visit another country for either short or extended period of time. Typically, we see our Inbound plans are purchased by travelers who are visiting the United States. Our highest selling scheduled benefits plan is Inbound Guest and the average traveler uses the coverage for 90 days.
The Inbound plans offer three different options:
Inbound Guest: our most popular scheduled benefits plan available for non-US citizens for visits up to 180 days.
Inbound Choice: our second most popular scheduled benefits plan available to non-US citizens between the ages of 14 and 69; coverage from anywhere from 5 to 364 days and renewable for up to 2 years.
Inbound Immigrant: long-term coverage for non-US citizens who plan to stay in the US for an extended period of time; the Inbound Immigrant plan is renewable for up to 5 years.
