Meet Seven Corners

Introducing Heather K.

Meet Heather, a passionate and inspired member of our Inside Sales team. She has been a member of the team for four and a half years, educating customers on our travel insurance solutions to help them travel safer. "I had just moved back to Indianapolis from several years working abroad when I stumbled across Seven Corners. One of several odd jobs I took during the transition back to the United States was Door Dash, and someone just happened to order a Thai Food for delivery to Seven Corners. From the moment I walked into Seven Corners, I felt a similar energy to what I had always felt while living in different countries. It was energy of being connected to the bigger world, making a difference, and opportunity for growth."

Heather enjoys her role of interacting with travelers who are preparing for exciting adventures and providing them with a plan that will keep them safe while exploring.

What is the most interesting thing you have learned about travel insurance while at Seven Corners?

Pre- Seven Corners, my career path was in teaching which led me down a path of working in a variety of international schools around the world as well as leading student exchange programs of all ages.

Looking back at that time in my life, I feel like I was what you could call “Young, wild and free… but also pretty naive about just how invincible I really was."

In each new country I lived in I spent all my free time driving motorbikes down off beaten paths, eating all the street food I could, and never once thinking about the “what ifs.” Back then, Travel Insurance to me was just something that I could check a box to add on after purchasing a flight to protect if I had to cancel… but for me…I wasn’t cancelling…  I was booking flights at the last minute, staying in hostels, sleeping in airports when delayed, and creating my own itineraries on a day-by-day basis! Why would I ever need travel insurance?

Then there was that one time that I almost stepped on a scorpion searching for my hostel in Myanmar… well, travel insurance would have been a GAME CHANGER.

What is your favorite part of traveling?

The power it has to expand my perspective. No matter the destination or the length, I always grow from traveling.

What is the most interesting place you've been on vacation?

On a trip to Myanmar, I spent a week watching the sunrise over the ancient temples in the city of Bagan. The best part was trying to navigate our mopeds in the pitch dark each morning trying to find the perfect temple to climb up and sit on to watch the sunrise in time!

What is the best travel tip you have given or received?

Get up early! Don't get me wrong... the nightlife can be great... but there is something magical about watching a new place come alive in the early morning.

What is your dream travel destination?

It changes every day!

What is something you can't travel without?

Along with Travel Insurance, of course, I would also say a small journal... nothing fancy... just a place to write down thoughts!
