Meet the newest member of the Seven Corners Adventure Team, Chris Teets! Chris embarked on his first journey abroad to visit Berlin, Germany.

Here is his story:

“I got to experience my first trip overseas and visit Berlin, Germany. The jetlag is nothing to joke about. Afternoon naps became a staple of our days to gear up for dinner and a night out. I got to travel with own personal translator/roommate/girlfriend, Melanie. It made traveling so much easier. I would just stand there smiling and nodding while she told what I imagine was a great story about me. I can tell this by the fact that they would always look at me and laugh. Laughing always means something good from my experiences. She is so nice!

The food was amazing, the weather was beautiful, and the sites were massive. Pictured is the world famous Brandenburg Gate. We were unable to go underneath or through it on our visit. On the opposite side is a huge set up for soccer fans to watch the big Euro Tournament. Germany was going strong and people were excited. Also pictured is the Reichstag (below). I was told this building is quite important. All the heavily armed guards made that quite apparent. Also pictured below is the last great Prussian palace of Potsdam built by Fredrick the Great in the 1760’s. The palace sits on Sanssouci Park riddled with other large beautiful buildings and fountains. The grounds are 700 acres in size and I think we only saw half. It was this day that I got a little sunburnt on the neck as we discovered Germany cannot predict the weather! The grounds are going under a massive multi-year restoration project as they sat neglected for years as part of East Germany. I can only imagine how beautiful they will be once fully completed.

The experience was like nothing I have ever done before. And now I have the travel bug. We are already starting to save for our next adventure!
