Please welcome the newest member of the Seven Corners Adventure Team, Dan!

Dan just returned from a trip home to the UK and Scotland.

Dan's Story

I took a 2-week journey back to the UK to see my friends and family who I had not seen since I emigrated to the U.S. nearly 2 years ago.

I set off on a Saturday evening flying into Newark International before making the trip ‘over the pond’ on an overnight flight to London Heathrow which funnily enough I used to work at for the UK Border Patrol.

I arrived back at my Mother’s house around Sunday lunchtime for a short nap as I had to fly up to Glasgow, Scotland the next day!

I drove over to Ayr for a few days to see my Dad and Aunt and acclimatize back to the Scottish weather and try and get over some of my jet-lag.  Driving on the correct side of the road didn’t take long for me to get used to – it was like I was never away.

On the Wednesday after saying goodbye to the old man I travelled to Falkirk to see the Kelpies are the largest equine sculptures in the world!  These represent the history of heavy horse of industry and economy, pulling the wagons and ploughs, barges and coal ships that shaped the structural layout of the area.

I then travelled to Bannockburn, the site where Scotland were victorious in the First War of Scottish Independence in 1314.

Next up I went back to my home city of Edinburgh (the capital of Scotland) for a few days to take in a few sights I have done many times before.

Edinburgh Castle (sits on a dormant volcano!)  They fire a cannon from here at 1:00 PM every day!

It was nice to be home for a short break and I would recommend Edinburgh to anyone for a weekend as there is so much to see and do.
