Plans with a Medical Network for Travel to the U.S.
There are two main benefits to using a medical provider in your network when traveling in the United States:
- You may be eligible for discounts, getting you the same, lower price insurance companies are billed.
- Your provider can bill your insurance directly.
You are not required to use the network, but doing so can result in lower cost and more convenience for you.
How to use your network
Once you find an in-network provider, present your insurance ID card and tell the provider that your healthcare coverage uses the United Healthcare network. The provider may not recognize the name Seven Corners and saying you have Seven Corners insurance may result in you being billed incorrectly.
Locating Medical Providers Outside the United States
To find a medical provider outside the U.S., use Seven Corners’ International Provider Directory at Wellabroad.com. You will find a summary of the provider’s services and the payment options they offer. Not all providers will bill directly to Seven Corners, so review the Provider Type to make sure you understand how billing will be handled.
Plans Without a Medical Network
If your plan does not have a medical network, you can visit any medical provider you wish. Although you will not receive network discounts, please feel free to use the network’s directory to locate doctors and medical facilities when traveling in the United States.
When you visit a medical provider, explain to them that you have insurance. Show them your travel insurance ID card and ask them to call Seven Corners if they wish to verify benefits and eligibility.
Be prepared to pay for medical services and prescription medications when you receive them. Some providers may agree to bill Seven Corners directly, but they are not required to do so.
