As the situation with the Coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) outbreak evolves, we are working to provide information that will be helpful if you are considering purchasing travel insurance and if you already purchased a plan and have questions about coverage.

  1. What if the country I am traveling to will place me in quarantine when I arrive at my destination? Can I cancel or interrupt my trip to avoid this?
  2. The RoundTrip plans include quarantine as a covered reason for trip cancellation, trip interruption, missed connection, and travel delay. What is considered a covered quarantine?
  3. Does RoundTrip Economy, Choice or Elite cover Trip Cancellations or Trip Interruptions because the country or state to which I plan to travel has closed its borders?

Trip Cancellation Coverage

This coverage reimburses your nonrefundable prepaid trip expenses if you cancel for a covered reason.

Coverage for COVID-19: The following covered reasons could provide coverage if triggered directly or indirectly by the COVID-19 pandemic: 

  • Quarantine
  • Sickness
  • Death
  • Called to military duty for a national disaster
  • Involuntary employer termination or layoff

Our RoundTrip plans do not include a covered reason that allows you to cancel your trip for fear of travel due to COVID-19. Add Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) if you wish to cancel your trip for any reason.  

Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) — If you purchase CFAR within the required time frame, it could allow you to cancel for fear of traveling, if you meet the requirements for CFAR.

CFAR is an optional benefit you can add to RoundTrip Choice or RoundTrip Elite for an additional cost. CFAR pays 75% of your nonrefundable trip cost if you cancel your trip for any reason you choose.

This benefit is not available in all states. Our quick quote will offer the benefit to you it if is available in your state.

You must meet these requirements to make a CFAR claim with our RoundTrip plans:

  1. Cancel your trip 2 days or more before your scheduled departure date (your trip start date).
  2. Buy the insurance plan with CFAR coverage within 20 days of the date your initial trip deposit is received.
  3. Insure all nonrefundable prepaid trip costs (including the cost of subsequent travel arrangements added to your trip within 15 days of paying for them).

Airline Reissue Fee — Under Trip Cancellation, you may receive this benefit.

If Your Travel Supplier cancels your trip, a benefit will be paid up to a maximum of $75 for the reissue fee charged by the airline for the tickets. You must have covered the entire cost of Your Trip including the airfare cost.

Trip Interruption Coverage

Coverage for COVID-19: Benefits may include coverage for Trip Interruption if you interrupt your trip for an applicable covered reason.

Possible covered reasons that could apply to COVID-19 include:

  • Quarantine
  • Sickness
  • Death
  • Called to military duty for a national disaster

Trip Delay Coverage

Coverage for COVID-19: Benefits may include coverage for Travel Delay if you are delayed for 12 hours or more for RoundTrip Economy and 6 hours or more for RoundTrip Choice and Elite for an applicable covered reason.

  • Any delay of a Common Carrier (the delay must be certified by the common carrier)
  • Quarantine

Missed Connection

Coverage for COVID-19: Benefits may include coverage for Missed Connection. To trigger this coverage, you must miss a cruise or tour departure due to a delay of 3 or more hours if the delay is caused by a covered reason.

Covered reasons that could apply for COVID-19 include:

  • Any missed connection of a common carrier (the delay must be certified by the common carrier)
  • Quarantine

RoundTrip Medical Coverage

Accident and Sickness Medical Expenses, Emergency Medical Evacuation, Medical Repatriation, and Return of Remains — If you become ill with COVID-19 while traveling, claims will be considered on the same basis as any other covered sickness.

Travel Medical Insurance

  • If you become ill with Coronavirus and seek medical treatment during a trip, your medical expenses are not covered for plans purchased May 1, 2020 or later.
  • If you require an emergency medical evacuation and repatriation due to Coronavirus, this will not be covered for plans purchased May 1, 2020 or later.

*Note: For services unrelated to Coronavirus, the ability for Seven Corners to execute an emergency medical evacuation and/or repatriation may be limited due to travel and other restrictions. Some emergency evacuation providers and airlines have restricted and eliminated their services in specific areas.

Trip Cancellation Coverage

Our RoundTrip plans do not include a covered reason that allows you to cancel your trip for fear of travel due to COVID-19. You may purchase Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) if you wish to cancel your trip because you are afraid to travel.

Can I buy Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) now?

CFAR is an optional benefit you can add to RoundTrip Choice or RoundTrip Elite for an additional cost. CFAR pays 75% of your nonrefundable trip cost if you cancel your trip for any reason you choose.

You can buy CFAR if you add it to your RoundTrip Choice or RoundTrip Elite plan within 20 days of the date your initial trip deposit is received. CFAR is not available on RoundTrip Economy.

Additionally, you must meet these requirements to make a CFAR claim with our RoundTrip plans:

RoundTrip International provides covered reasons and benefits related to COVID-19 for plans purchased before May 1, 2020. This coverage information is explained below.  
If you purchased a RoundTrip International plan on or after May 1, 2020, there is no coverage for COVID-19.

 

Trip Cancellation Coverage

Travel Medical Insurance

  • If you become ill with Coronavirus and seek medical treatment, your medical expenses can be covered for plans purchased before May 1, 2020.
  • If you require an emergency medical evacuation and repatriation due to Coronavirus, this can be covered for plans purchased before May 1, 2020.
  • If you reside in New York, Colorado, Maryland, or South Dakota, benefits on your plan may include coverage for a Missed Connection related to COVID-19.
    • To trigger this coverage, you must miss a cruise or tour departure due to a delay for the required time length (stated in the plan document) if the delay is caused by a covered reason.
    • Covered reasons that could apply for COVID-19 include:
      • Any delay of a common carrier (the delay must be certified by the common carrier)
      • Quarantine
