COVID-19 remains a concern for travelers around the world. Seven Corners’ travel insurance plans provide protection for your health and money if you or a traveling companion get sick during your trip, or if your destination is impacted by an outbreak, affecting your travel plans.

Below are some frequently asked questions about how travel insurance covers COVID. Benefits vary by plan. There may be other benefits available related to coronavirus, depending on your plan, beyond what is listed below. Please refer to the plan document or contact an agent for details.

If you purchase a Seven Corners plan, your medical expenses for treatment for coronavirus contracted on your trip can be covered.

Your plan can also cover additional expenses related to a trip interruption. The trip interruption must be triggered by a covered reason, which can include contracting COVID while you travel.

For plans that can be renewed, visit the Seven Corners renewal portal and enter your certificate (shown on your ID card) and the primary insured’s date of birth to log in. The primary insured is the person listed first on the plan.

In some situations, you may be able to extend a trip protection plan, such as Seven Corners Trip Protection or Trip Protection USA. Contact your agent or Seven Corners for options.

Trip protection and travel medical plans both cover COVID the same as any other type of sickness you contract while traveling. That means it will be treated the same way as another illness you might get during your trip, like the flu, for example.

Additionally, if you require an Emergency Medical Evacuation or Medical Repatriation, it would be covered in the same way those coverages apply to other sicknesses.

If you have a trip protection plan, yes, you can cancel your trip if you become sick with COVID before your trip begins. Some conditions must apply in order to be eligible for trip expense reimbursement. Some of these conditions may include:

You are sick before you leave on your trip, and
You require medical treatment that results in medically imposed restrictions certified by a physician.

Conditions and exclusions vary by plan. Please review your plan document for more details. The same limitations and exclusions that apply to all claims also apply to claims for losses caused by COVID-19, including the exclusion for pre-existing conditions (when applicable).

Fear of travel is not a covered reason in trip protection plans. In this case, you cannot cancel your trip and receive payment for your trip expenses.

You may, however, buy Cancel for any Reason (CFAR) coverage. This optional benefit allows you to cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered by your plan, including fear of travel.

CFAR is not available on all plans or to residents of all U.S. states. Our quick quote will display it as an option for you, if it is available. You can also check with your agent or Seven Corners for eligibility.

Yes, you can interrupt your trip if you become sick with COVID-19 on your trip. Some conditions must apply for you to be reimbursed for the unused portions of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip payments and additional transportation costs associated with the trip interruption. Some of these conditions may include:

You become sick while you are on your trip, and
You require medical treatment that results in medically imposed restrictions certified by a physician.
