How J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance Works

Who can buy a J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance plan?

J-2 visa holders and their dependents can be covered by the Seven Corners J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance plan if you are temporarily residing outside your home country.*

Also, the J-1 visa holder must remain engaged in full-time educational or research activities during the time you're covered by this plan. The J-2 visa holder and/or their dependents are eligible as long as the related J-1 visa holder remains in official status.

Dependents include the primary insured person’s spouse and natural or legally adopted unmarried children over 14 days and under 21 years of age. Spouse is your legal spouse, legal domestic partner, or legal civil partner, if not legally separated or divorced, as determined by the applicable governmental jurisdiction where the legal union is sanctioned.

*What is my home country and why do I have to be outside it to be covered?
Your home country is the country where you have your permanent residence.

All travel medical insurance plans require you to be outside your home country to be covered. The J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance plan is no different. You are covered while you are in the United States and if you travel elsewhere. If you return to your home country, you are not covered.

What are the J Visa compliant health insurance requirements?

  • $100,000 minimum medical benefit per accident or illness
  • $50,000 minimum emergency medical evacuation coverage
  • $25,000 minimum coverage for repatriation
  • $500 maximum deductible per accident or illness
  • Proof of coverage for the duration of the visa
  • A plan underwritten by an insurance carrier with an AM Best rating of "A-" or higher

Inside of the United States — We offer an extensive PPO network of medical providers with special network pricing and potential savings for you.

Outside of the United States — Seven Corners has a large international network of providers, and many of them have agreed to bill us direct for treatment they provide. We recommend you contact us for a referral, but you may seek treatment at any facility.
Utilizing the network does not guarantee benefits or that the treating facility will bill Seven Corers direct. We do not guarantee payment to a facility or individual until we determine the expense is covered by the plan.

The J Visa Compliance Travel Medical Insurance plan is competitively priced with a daily rate for each person that is determined by age.

The total cost of the travel insurance plan will vary depending on how long you are in the United States. When you use our Quick Quote tool, you’ll receive your pricing.

A lower deductible will increase your daily rate, and a higher deductible will reduce it.

Our plan offers three different deductible options that meet the J Visa travel insurance requirements: $100, $250, and $500.
