Two of the most common questions we hear from our customers are: “Does trip insurance* cover COVID-19?” and “How does trip insurance cover COVID-19?”
We understand your concerns and your questions, and you’ve come to the right place to learn how Seven Corners Trip Protection plans can protect you for COVID-19.
The trip cancellation* benefit reimburses you for your prepaid and nonrefundable trip expenses if you cannot take your trip for a covered reason.
Yes, you can cancel your trip if you become sick with COVID-19 before your trip. The following conditions must apply:
Other covered reasons for trip cancellation related directly or indirectly to COVID-19 could apply, including quarantine, death, being called to military duty for a national disaster other than war, family or friends being unable to provide accommodations due to life-threatening illness or death, and being laid off or fired from your job.
In all cases, the trip cancellation benefit must be in effect when the triggering event occurs. The same limitations and exclusions that apply to all claims also apply to claims for losses caused by COVID-19, including the exclusion for pre-existing conditions (when applicable).
Fear of travel is not a covered reason. In this case, you cannot cancel your trip and receive payment for your trip expenses.
You can, however, buy optional Cancel for any Reason (CFAR) coverage.** With CFAR, you can cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this plan.
Trip interruption coverage reimburses you for the unused portions of your prepaid, nonrefundable payments for travel arrangements and your additional transportation cost to:
Yes, you can interrupt your trip if you become sick with COVID-19 on your trip if:
Other covered reasons for trip interruption related directly or indirectly to COVID-19 could apply, including quarantine, death, being called to military duty for a national disaster other than war, family or friends being unable to provide accommodations due to life-threatening illness or death, and being laid off or fired from your job.

If you become sick with COVID-19 while traveling, it is covered the same as any other type of sickness. That means it will be treated the same way as an illness you might have, like the flu, for example.
Additionally, if you require an Emergency Medical Evacuation or Medical Repatriation, it would be covered in the same way those coverages apply to other sicknesses.

*Trip insurance is included as part of a travel protection plan, which consists of insurance coverages underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company as well as non-insurance assistance services provided by Seven Corners. Insurance coverages are subject to the terms, limitations and exclusions in the plan, including an exclusion for pre-existing conditions.
**CFAR is not available in all states. Our quick quote will display it as an option for you if it is available in your state. This Cancel for Any Reason Benefit does not cover the failure of the Travel Supplier to provide the bargained-for Travel Arrangements due to cessation of operations for any reason.
Pre-existing Conditions: Losses resulting from pre-existing conditions are normally excluded from coverage. However, such losses are covered on the same basis as losses from all other sicknesses and injuries if you meet the requirements for the Pre-Existing Medical Condition Exclusion Waiver available on Seven Corners Trip Protection Choice if you buy the plan within 20 days of your initial trip deposit. This waiver requires you to insure all of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs. Additional terms and conditions apply, so please read the plan document for full details.
