Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and there’s no better way to celebrate than spending some quality time with your sweetheart. What’s better than quality time with your loved one? Quality time on vacation!
Even if you don’t have a significant other, these romantic escapes are also the perfect place to fall in love. From cityscapes to tropical retreats, active adventures to quiet relaxations, there’s a getaway out there for you.
Maui, Hawaii

From romantic sunrises 10,000 feet about sea level at Mt. Haelkala’s summit to enjoying couples massages and pampering at the many beautiful resorts on Maui, there’s no shortage of renewing and romantic experiences to be a part of on this serene island of Hawaii. The scenery isn’t bad either! Maui makes a perfect dream vacation for you and your partner, full of inspiring sightseeing from beautiful tropical beaches, hidden waterfalls and breathtaking landscapes. For the more adventurous types, you can tour the island on horseback, by helicopter or even sail through some of Maui’s most majestic forests on a zip line.
Paris, France
Ah, Paris, je t’aime! Paris is affectionately known as “the City of Love” for a multitude of reasons. Many couples take the trip to France to explore Paris on their honeymoon, since the city is so famous for sparking romance and of course, hearing the native language of French, known as the language of love. Of course, dreamy strolls along the Siene or embraces by the Eiffel tower are musts. Taking a trek to the Louvre for the more cultured couple might be just the right creative note to spark romance. If you’re willing to venture just outside the city and a train ride away, you can visit the beautiful Palace of Versailles and wander through the gardens and soak up the luxurious lifestyles of French royalty.
Venice, Italy
This unique and intoxicating city in Italy is known for being a city that sparks love and romance but takes some foresight and planning, particularly during tourist season! But, I promise you, the planning is well worth it. Take a famed gondola ride and be serenaded and stroll through the city’s beautiful canal promenades. Venice is a beautiful city for getting some romantic photos and memories that will last you a lifetime. While Venice is bustling and bumping with crowds during the daytime (which certainly can feel a bit claustrophobic for some), Venice after nightfall can be a soothing and relaxing place to sight see.
Riviera Maya, Mexico
Want to visit a place where luxury, privacy and peace are the cornerstones of the experience? Look no further than the calm crystal clear ocean of Riviera Maya Mexico. Known for their beautiful resorts that act as calming retreats, you and your partner can find exactly what you need to relax in Riviera Maya. Enjoy being pampered and spoiled at one of their resorts which often are adults-only such as Catalonia Royal Tulum which feature tons of privacy, beautiful scenery and views across the Caribbean.
New York City

Okay, yes, I’m just a tiny bit biased here. As a former resident of Manhattan, I’ve been exposed to all the romantic (and not so romantic) parts of the city. However, if you’re an urbanite at heart, and don’t mind the crowds and bustle of a big city, there is no shortage of romantic restaurants, gorgeous venues and sights to visit here. Book a stay at one of the many famous hotels such as the Plaza or Waldorf-Astoria to kick off your romantic visit. Walks and ice skating through Central Park, visit the top of the Empire State Building … Sleepless in Seattle style, attend a ballet (or Fashion Week if you’re a stylish set) at Lincoln Center, explore the High Line and have breakfast at Tiffany’s. Yes, it sounds a little bit cliché, and your New Yorker friends will certainly lovingly tease you for the touristy choices but soak up and enjoy the fairy tale parts of New York, with or without a partner.
Bora-Bora
Full of a host of romantic resorts and getaways, Bora-Bora is an exotic, quiet, natural setting to escape with your paramour. Bora-Bora is often regarded as one of the most beautiful island paradises in the world. This hidden jewel of an island is located in French Polynesia. Many hotels are built right on the bright and beautiful turquoise waters of Bora-Bora so you feel as though you are right in the middle of the ocean. Bora-Bora is a place to relax, and part of the experience is mellowing out and soaking up the restorative and serene environment in paradise. Maybe not the best trip for those explorers out there! Be sure to turn your gazes upwards in the evenings in Bora-Bora, you’ll never see stars quite the same way as you can here.
